Elle Decor is probably one of my favorite home and design magazines…I subscribe to oodles of magazines (yes, oodles is a word that means “a lot” :) ) but I am always so excited to flip through this one.  I thought I would share a few pages from the most recent issue:

I am all about having framed prints and artwork everywhere…much to my husband’s dismay!  Hmm, this looks like a cool future project!

new album and more holiday inspiration! {santa barbara children’s photographer}

October 16, 2009 | inspiration,little ones,products

Yes, yes I have another album to share…but they’re just so awesome I cannot resist! :)  Whew, what a long week, but I am thrilled it’s Friday…looking forward to doing a little bit of free shooting for myself this weekend so hopefully you will be seeing a few art pieces in the coming months that I’ve been working on!

The super sweet cuddly little boy (baby!) in this album is my youngest nephew Benjamin, or Benj as we call him and these images are about 2 1/2 years old.  I recently found them on my macbook while I was doing some computer “housecleaning” and I created a sample album…he has changed SOOO much of course, but I still remember this day like it was yesterday.  I had a brand new Canon 5D and had so much fun playing with Benj and the new camera.  My nieces and nephews are in those growing phases where they grow 5 inches between each time I see them–I get sad sometimes because I think about how I’m not around them as much as I used to be but then I remind myself that I’m pretty fortunate to be able to fly back as much as I do!

And you know how I love spreading the inspiration! You may have already seen this months Pottery Barn catalogue but in case you haven’t I’ve scanned in the below image from their latest issue–I love the wrought iron holiday card holder…what a great idea for all your holiday cards and after the season is over you can use it for birthday cards, greeting cards or even prints from every day or sessions with me!  I am loving it–may be placing an order with them sometime soon!

home decor inspirations {santa barbara children’s photographer}

October 9, 2009 | inspiration

Hi everyone!  I’m sure you’re just as happy as I am that it’s FINALLY Friday!  I stumbled across this adorable website a few months ago and I’ve been perusing it for inspiration on tons of things, but most of all, home decor.  I love that Layla Grayce uses art work in most of their designs…because I think art is what makes a home, well, a home!

Check out the website here and be sure to check the “inspirations” page…gorgeous ideas!

SnackTaxi!

October 2, 2009 | inspiration

Sooo I love, just love things/stuff/items/programs/software, well, anything really, that makes my life easier!  A few months ago I was on the hunt for a reusable sandwich/snack bag and after an exhaustive google search I finally found what I was looking for!  Meet: The SnackTaxi!  I found these cute little suckers at Hip Mountain Mama (not only does she make SnackTaxis but tons of other home, kid and baby products).  There are two different sizes of Snack Taxi’s and I chose the smaller size (depicted in the images below).  They work terrifically!  I am so pleased with them :)  The SnackTaxi’s are 100% cotton with a nylon inside that has a polyurethane coating–they can actually be machine washed and dried but is recommended to hand wash so they’ll last longer.  I took a few frames yesterday after Mike and I put together his lunch for the day…they’re just so cool!

Several different colors are offered and these are the initial four that I picked out (yes, the pink is for me!).  Mike and I pack lunches A LOT.  Although we probably don’t pack as many as the creator of SnackTaxi (she packs over 500 a year for her three children!!!  God Bless all the mommies!)  but Mike usually takes his lunch to work, we go on picnics, take random Friday/Sunday road trips, I eat lunch at the beach, etc, etc so it’s finally nice to have an option that a) costs less b) keeps me from going to the grocery store (eek!) or to the mothership (Target!) and c) is healthy for the environment and keeps that icky plastic taste off sandwiches!

These pomegranates fit just fine inside the SnackTaxi and pomegranates are pretty beastly!  We love pomegranates and for the few weeks that they are locally in season they are consumed daily in this household!

One day, not too long ago, Mike had been outside watering plants, etc and I decided to fix myself “the usual,” (which consists of a scrambled egg, heirloom tomato, farmers market goat cheese on homemade baked wheat toast with just a tad of ground pepper) when Mike came in and saw what I was fixing–he felt cheated and wanted to know what this delicious sandwich was.  I made him one too and now I can’t get the guy to quit asking for them…so we tossed one into a SnackTaxi :)

Well now that I’ve made myself sufficiently hungry, I’m off to find something to eat!  Have a wonderful weekend everyone :)

holiday cheer–and a bit of inspiration!

September 28, 2009 | inspiration

My Pottery Barn catalogue came in the mail a few days ago and I finally had time to sit down and flip through it…I always love receiving magazines and catalogues in the mail for photographic inspiration.  I scanned this image in from PB’s October issue because I think my holiday card sessions that I mentioned in the Fall newsletter would be great for this idea!  Check it out:
