the most wonderful time of year… {santa barbara family photographer}

December 1, 2010 | personal

I can’t believe it’s already December, can you?!?  This time of year, sadly, always flies by…so I’m trying to soak it up and enjoy it as much as possible :)

We busted out our Christmas tree and ornaments early this year…2 days before Thanksgiving to be exact :)

  • Carol: I agree - what a WONDERFUL time of the year - and your display of ornaments is very beautiful! Isn't it great how a photograph of Christmas ornaments will just hit you right in the heart?! (12.01.2010 08:48pm)

all things paper… {santa barbara family photographer}

November 11, 2010 | personal,photography,products

I recently commissioned Heidi from Zenadia Design to use her amazing letterpress skills to print new business cards for my portrait business.  I designed the cards to be very simple and elegant, like my brand, and I love how they turned out.  Heidi creates amazing wedding invitations and other fun things, and as you all know, I just love all things paper!

flat stanley {santa barbara family photographer}

September 8, 2010 | personal

I haven’t blogged anything personal, well, really anything lately so I decided to share a personal story today…

Last week I received a really fun package from my oldest nephew in Charlotte, NC.  I opened the envelope and found a letter, a booklet and a laminated cutout of my nephew.  The letter consisted of a story about a “boy” named Flat Stanley and a plea for my help to educate Jackson’s class about my town/part of the country…so of course I’m going to help out my nephew!  In fact, I’m a little on the competitive side so I’m going to make sure we, I mean, Jackson gets an A+ on this assignment!  So far, Flat Jackson has sailed with me and friends to Santa Cruz Island (part of the Channel Islands)…good thing he’s laminated…we got a tad wet on the way out there!  The next day Flat Jackson, myself and Uncle Mike visited my favorite Santa Maria winery, Riverbench.  Hopefully his teacher will realize that viticulture is an important part of California tourism!!  ;)

I definitely plan on photographing Flat Jackson more throughout this project but here are a few snapshots from my phone…

Flat Jackson and us enjoying some Champagne…I’m such a fun aunt!  ;)

So where all should we take Flat Jackson?!

  • beverly: LOVE it!!!! hope Flat Jackson has a ball in California... How about Legoland? Mike might like an excuse to go back there ;) (09.08.2010 03:56pm)
  • whitney: yeah, i'd kinda like to go again too! (09.08.2010 03:59pm)
  • Making memories – Bald Head Island style « Life with Sweet Peaches: [...] and one of my sisters and her children, so we all traveled to the coast together. {We missed Whitney, but she was having her own adventure.  It just happened to be on the opposite coast.}  It IS [...] (09.09.2010 07:43pm)
  • Carol: I'll bet Flat Jackson would love to take a trip up north on the 101 in a rented 2010 convertible camaro with Whitney at the wheel!! I can just see his hair blowing in the breeze (maybe not)!! Or a trip to a Dodgers game, but don't forget to take a ball glove for him so that he has a better chance of catching a fly ball!! Or what about a trip to the Santa Barbara zoo and don't forget to buy some peanuts for him to feed the monkeys!!! (09.10.2010 11:41am)
  • whitney: hmm, i'm liking all those ideas, especially the camaro idea! (09.10.2010 11:46am)

July 4, 2010 | personal,photography

I have so many great memories of the Fourth of July…mainly because my birthday was just a few days ago and as a child, I always looked forward to the entire weekend of birthday cake and watching fireworks for the 4th…Wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying this special day!
